WHAT IS PSNES?
The Penn State Nuclear Engineering Society is an organization of Penn State nuclear engineering alumni and friends of the nuclear engineering program. The purpose of this Society is to promote fellowship and communication among the alumni, faculty and students of the Nuclear Engineering Program in order to work for the improvement of the program, the Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering Department, and the College of Engineering.

HOW IS PSNES ORGANIZED?
PSNES is governed by a Board of Directors that is made up of nuclear engineering alumni who hold the elected positions of the Society officers: President, Vice-President, and Secretary/Treasurer and At Large members. The Chair of the nuclear engineering program and a nuclear engineering faculty member also serve on the Board of Directors. In addition to the Board of Directors, there are over 200 active members.

HOW DO I BECOME AN ACTIVE MEMBER OF PSNES?
All living graduates of Penn State’s nuclear engineering program can automatically become an active member. Penn State graduates who are not nuclear engineering graduates but desire to become a member of PSNES can do so by either self-nomination or by nomination by a member. When appropriate, the Board of Directors may designate non-alumni as Honorary Members in recognition of acknowledged eminence in some area of engineering or who have rendered outstanding service to the nuclear engineering program.

There are no dues or fees. However, becoming an active member of PSNES means your participation in one or more of the Society’s committees, programs and activities.
