Dear PSNES Members, Alumni and Friends of the Nuclear Engineering Program,

The PSNES Board and Committees are hard at work to create exciting opportunities for our Alumni to stay current with the Nuclear Engineering Program and reconnect with other Alumni.  Our Alumni now span five decades with some "original" nuclear pioneers and our recent graduates who will be the "pioneers" of the nuclear renaissance.  "We Are ..... Penn State Nuclear Engineering".

Please take a minute to update your contact information and complete our survey.  Your thoughts and ideas about what we can do to better service our members and the Program are always welcome.

Mark your calendars for the following events!

April 18, 2008 – Blue-White Pre-Game Informal Dinner & Networking Event:

Members of the Penn State Nuclear Engineering Society (PSNES), alumni and friends of nuclear engineering, met for an informal dinner on Friday, April 18th at the Atherton Hotel, State College, PA. Approximately 30 people attended the tailgate. View photos from the event here.

On-Campus Speaking Opportunities

Every semester, guest speakers are invited to give seminars in the NucE 590 Seminar Series.  These seminars are an important part of the NucE program that allows students to receive instruction and interact with prominent individuals in the nuclear engineering field.  This is an excellent way for alumni to return to PSU and share experiences about "what it's really like" in the broad range of professions that our Alumni are involved in.  If you would like to present a seminar, contact Dr. Jack Brenizer at (814) 863-6384 or Dr. Larry Hochreiter at (814) 865-6198.

The ANS Student Chapter also welcomes Alumni speakers for their meetings.  This is an excellent opportunity to interact with the "next generation" in an informal and fun setting. Please visit the PSU ANS Student Chapter Website at http://www.clubs.psu.edu/up/ans/activities.htm.

The PSNES Board and the MNE Department join me in inviting you to participate in these events.  If you have any questions about PSNES or would like to become involved, please submit your request to our website or feel free to contact me at PatriciaALoftus@hotmail.com.

Best wishes,

Pat Loftus
PSNES President
