The Nuclear Engineering Program's major experimental facilities are at the Radiation Science and Engineering Center, located in the Breazeale Reactor Building and the Academic Projects Building. The major facilities available include:

Neutron Beam Laboratory
Gamma Irradiation Facility
Nuclear Materials Engineering Laboratory
Pneumatic Tube Transfer System
Fast Neutron Irradiator
Subcritical Graphite Experiment Pile
Graduate Student Office Quarters
Student Computers
Electronics and Machine Shops
Conference Room and Classroom
Instructional Laboratory Space
Faculty and Staff Offices

Access Information

There are many regulations and policies in effect at the Breazeale Reactor to address the University's and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's concerns for the health and safety of personnel and the physical security of material and equipment. A separate PSBR Orientation Brochure is available at the reactor which summarizes the regulations and policies affecting users. Students working at the reactor can be issued keys after meeting the requirements stated in the orientation material.
