Registration for 1-credit of ME 590 Graduate Seminar (Pass/Fail) and attendance at 8 out of 12 seminars are required for first-year graduate students for both Fall and Spring semester, beginning Fall semester 2008. The purposes of the seminar series are to:
- expose graduate students to multi-disciplinary, contemporary research topics that broaden their view of mechanical engineering beyond their research interests
- provide a forum for students to observe the art of organizing and delivering high-quality research presentations,
- expose Penn State MNE graduate students, faculty and other students to speakers from universities, industry and funding agencies and vice versa
- enhance the faculty-student interaction. The relationship of the seminar series with other graduate offerings is that it integrates the various Mechanical Engineering disciplines, and the seminars are presented by recognized research experts. The seminars are scheduled for 4:00-5:00PM on Tu in Room 135 Reber Building. Refreshments are served outside 121 Reber Building, beginning around 3:45PM.
