PENN STATE PROFESSOR TO RECEIVE AIAA AWARD

December 10, 2007 [Reston, Virginia] —The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) is pleased to announce that Vigor Yang will receive the 2008 AIAA Pendray Aerospace Literature Award during the 46th Aerospace Sciences Meeting and Exhibit, 7-10 January 2008 at the Grand Sierra Resort (formerly Reno Hilton) in Reno, Nevada.

Named for Dr. G. Edward Pendray, a founder and past president of the American Rocket Society, the AIAA Pendray Aerospace Literature Award presented for an outstanding contribution or contributions to aeronautical and astronautical literature in the relatively recent past.

Yang is being honored for significant contributions as both an author and an editor to aerospace literature, particularly in the areas of propulsion, combustion and energetics. The award, consisting of a medal, certificate of citation, and rosette pin, will be presented to Yang on 8 January 2008.

Yang, who is an AIAA Fellow, is John L. and Genevieve H. McCain Chair in Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. He also serves as the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Propulsion and Power. Yang has published extensively on topics in propulsion, combustion, and energetics.
