Ken
Kuo and Rich Yetter receive Multidisciplinary University
Research Initiative (MURI) Awards
Two
new Multidisciplinary University Research Initiative (MURI)
Awards had been received by members of the Department of
Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering.
The
awards were announced on Friday by the Department of
Defense, which will issue 31 grants to 24 different universities. This
is out of 116 full proposals received. MURI budgets
are a million dollars a year for five years. Click

MURI
#7 is funded by the Army, and is titled "A Unified Multiscale
Approach for Nano-Engineered Energetic Materials." Rich
Yetter is the PI, and Ken Kuo is the co-PI. Vigor
Yang and Dave Allara will also be participants at Penn
State. Two other universities are involved:
the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the
University of Southern California.
MURI
#12 is funded by the Navy, and is titled "Fundamental Understanding
of Propellant/Nozzle Interaction to Mitigate Erosion for
Very High Pressure Missile Propellant Applications." Ken
Kuo is the PI, and Rich Yetter is the co-PI. Vigor
Yang and Francesco Costanzo will also be participants at
Penn State. Four other universities are involved:
the University of Illinois - Chicago, Emory University,
Ohio State University, and the University of Texas, Austin. (3/04)
