- To familiarize team with design objectives, ES visited the IR Tool & Hoist Division in Annandale, NJ, to meet with Corporate Contact (CC).
- ES held brainstorming meeting to develop initial concepts for the socket-tool interface design. Concepts were communicated to CC for review.
- Per CC's suggestions, feasible design concepts were selected for further development.
- CC visited The Pennsylvania State University (PSU) to meet with ES and discuss final revisions of selected concepts.
- ES selected concept to be refined into final design. Design was modeled in Pro/ENGINEER 2000i2 and engineering drawings were produced.
- A rapid prototype (RP) was produced using the Z Corporation Z402 (ZCOR) 3D printer at the Learning Factory (LF) facility on PSU's campus.
- RP was analyzed and design was modified. Modified design was RP'd using a Stratasys FDM-2000 machine at the LF. Additionally, a scaled model (2:1) was RP'd using the ZCOR machine.
- Final report was produced and design was presented at ME415 Design Showcase.
