Multiple
Transmission
This idea was presented to us by Mark
Wharton, Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering at Penn State University,
after our Preliminary Design Review. His basic idea was that since
we are using one frequency to transmit the data there would be a possibility
that two simultaneous transmissions would have deconstructive interference.
Therefore if we were to transmit the signal one or two more times with
a random delay between each transmission, the probability of the signals
canceling each other out would be virtually infinitesimal. Thus,
the chance that a passenger's request is not received is virtually eliminated.
