Summary
The
Central Intermediate Unit (CIU) works with the Department of Education to
provide programs to the community through their support of children and adults
with disabilities throughout the county, providing them with an equal
opportunity to develop. The CIU division located in State College provides
therapy to preschool children with various types of special needs through
physical therapists (PT) and occupational therapists (OT).
In order
for the PT and OT to provide these needs, the CIU requested a chair and
desk with multiple adjustments to be designed. Currently, all the requested
functions exist in different chairs, but not in one single chair.
The goal of EPICSSEAT is to
design a chair and desk that will provide all the necessary adjustments to
satisfy the needs of the CIU here in State College.
