Home Background and Problem Statement Detailed Steering Design Prototype Machining and Assembly Suspension Recommendations Final Thoughts Extra Info |
Steer Clear, Inc., comprised of senior Mechanical Engineering students at Penn State, has worked with Kronosport, Inc. to design and prototype an improved steering mechanism on Kronosport's line of Electric Utility Vehicles (EUV's). The new steering design includes an upright steering handlebar with a gear and chain translation of motion from handlebar turning to wheel turning. The new design also eliminates the use of bicycle pedals on the front of the chassis and features a footrest in their place. In addition to the steering mechanism, Steer Clear also recommended a feasible suspension system for the front and the back of the EUV. All facets of interest in this project can be found in the links at the left of this page. Thanks, and please direct any questions concerning this project to Ben Van Wagner (wbv101@psu.edu).
