Digital vs. Analog
Demodulator
Abstract
BAE
Systems tasked this team with converting an analog
demodulator into a digital demodulator. The new circuit
needs to reduce board space and production cost. The
Penn State BAE Systems Team first analyzed the analog
circuit to determine its performance. Based on cost and
size advantages, a DSP chip was then selected to use in
the new design. The completed circuit was then tested
for power and accuracy, and final cost and size was
compiled. Based on this analysis, the BAE Systems Team
recommends a switch from the analog to the digital
circuit.
