A small portion of the proposed full scale reactor was
constructed.
With a series of electrical heat strips, a regulated compressed air source, a monometer, and an array of thermocouples, students were able to measure the pressure drop and temperature profiles in the reactor. |

hold the packing material, a support plate was designed with
maximum open area to reduce pressure drop.

Deflection and stress tests were performed to optimize
