Executive Summary: This design focuses on the development of a lightweight, portable, affordable and easy to use reach envelope measurement apparatus that can be easily assembled and disassembled. The apparatus will be used in an ergonomics class taught by Dr. Mathew Parkinson. In order to meet the requirements, lightweight aluminum was used to make a collapsible structure. The structure will hold force sensors for the subject to interact with. Data will be collected from three points within the person’s reach envelope. The data collected from these sensors will feed directly into a computer, and the computer will use this data to calculate the individual’s workable reach envelope. The appar- -atus will be able to measure the reach envelope of one person every two to three minutes.
