Your account and password are intended for you and you alone: You are responsible for anything that happens while your account is logged in. This includes, but is not limited to, printing charges and misuse of the computer and computer resources. LOG OFF when you are done working.
Do not open the door for others: Each person entering the lab must swipe their ID card through the card reader (in PCStudio & Linux Labs) or have approval from faculty member in charge of class for Instructional Labs. If you allow others to enter, you could lose your own access to the lab.
Do not remove items from labs: If you remove any item from this lab, you will be reported to police services. Most labs are video monitored and recorded 24/7.
Temp directories are cleared: The Windows C:\temp folder will be automatically cleared every night. Anything older than 30 days will be automatically removed.
Printing: Printing is limited and seperate from your Penn State ITS computer labs printing account. ALL accounts are set to exactly $15 at the beginning of Fall semester, an additonal $15 is added at the beginning of Spring semester, and an additional $5 at the beginning of summer session.
Storage Space: You can save documents in "My Documents" and/or "Desktop" from a Windows computers or via the "Connect to Drives" menu item on Linux computers. You have 10GB of space per user. Please note that this server space IS NOT backed up and you are encouraged to maintain a backup of your files.
Linux Lab Usage: Please limit your usage/logins in the Linux Lab to 25% of the available computers (typically 2 computers).
Linux Lab user directories: All user directories and files that are saved on the local hard drive will be deleted every summer in July or August. They may also be deleted at any time through the year if necessary to free up disk space. Your files are not backed up. You are encourged to maintain a copy of your files.
